Frequently Asked Quest-ions

For Players
Is this mandatory?

That’s up to your team lead. Some make it totally optional, some set weekly/monthly session goals. But QuestWorks only works when people actually want to show up. Sessions are 25 minutes, easy to reschedule, and designed to be the best part of your week. If it’s not, we’re doing something wrong.

Will this affect my performance review, compensation, or promotion?

No. Your employer is prohibited from using QuestWorks to make employment decisions. Leaders receive aggregate org-level trends only. Never individual behavioral data. This is a development tool, not a scorecard.

What do the Jira/GitHub/Asana integrations actually do?

Two things. First, anonymized org-level trends show that QuestWorks is actually working, so your team can keep questing. Second, they help the AI spot patterns that inspire quests designed to help your team move faster and do better work together. Nothing about your gameplay ever gets written back to those tools.

What about Lattice, 15Five, and Culture Amp?

Those pulse surveys you take are pointless if nothing changes. QuestWorks takes those anonymized insights and shapes quests around what your team actually needs to work on. Game data never flows back into those platforms. Your performance review has no idea QuestWorks exists.

What does HeroGPT actually do for me?

It’s your personal collaboration coach. You can ask it for direct advice on how to work better with specific teammates based on everyone’s strengths. Need help navigating a tricky dynamic with someone on your team? Ask HeroGPT. It’s opt-in, on-demand, and totally private. Nothing you say to HeroGPT is ever shared with your manager or anyone else.

Who owns the data?

Your individual gameplay and coaching data stays private to you. Your HeroType is public. Your company sees aggregate org-level trends only. Use /settings in Slack or Teams to view, download, or delete your data anytime.

Can my manager see what I do in here?

Your manager sees the roster and aggregate org-level trends. Anything you say to HeroGPT is completely private. Nothing from your sessions ever gets written back to Jira, GitHub, Slack, or Teams.

Do I earn anything I can keep?

Yes. Behaviors observed during play accumulate into LinkedIn-verified certifications at three tiers — Practitioner, Specialist, and Expert. Each comes with a public verification page showing exactly how many times you demonstrated that behavior, and over how many months. One-click add to LinkedIn. Nobody can fake 47 instances of speaking up under pressure across six months of sessions.

Why is my company paying for this?

Good teams don’t stay good by accident. Communication, trust, and collaboration are skills, and like any skill, they get sharper with practice.

Your company is investing in a culture tool that isn’t forced fun. It’s a 25-minute cinematic RPG once a week where your team naturally exercises the dynamics that matter, without lectures, trust falls, or surveys. You can decline any session, and nothing is tied to performance reviews.

For this to work, it has to deliver real value to your employer too: aggregate insights, growth trends, proof that culture is improving. We built all of that without compromising your experience or your privacy. Both sides get what they need.

Think of it like a gym membership for how your team works together. You don’t go because something’s broken. You go to stay sharp.

For Leaders
What is team intelligence?

Team intelligence is what a team knows about itself, what its leader knows about it, and what it does with that knowledge automatically. QuestWorks builds all three through weekly cinematic quests that surface team dynamics, produce leader-facing insights, and turn new behaviors into muscle memory. Full definition and framework here.

How is this different from other team development?

Traditional team development is infrequent, forced, and forgettable. QuestWorks is a persistent platform where real dynamics develop week over week. It’s voluntary, auto-scheduled around your team’s calendars, and produces behavioral insights no offsite, survey, or assessment can match. Think of it as a Team Intelligence Engine for how your team actually works together.

Is this like a virtual escape room?

Not quite. Escape rooms are one-off puzzles with fixed solutions. QuestWorks is a persistent, AI-driven RPG where every session is different based on player choices and strengths. Sessions include immersive voice acting, music, and narrative, but the focus is on surfacing and developing real collaboration patterns through open-ended co-op gameplay. Your team builds characters, shapes a living world, and develops measurable skills over time.

How much time does this take?

One 25-minute quest per week. Enough time for real dynamics to surface, not enough to disrupt anyone’s day. Quests auto-schedule around your team’s calendars, so there’s nothing to coordinate.

How do players coordinate their schedules?

They don’t. QuestWorks integrates with your team’s calendars to automatically identify when 2+ players have overlapping availability. When a session forms, eligible players get an invite. Click “Join” or “Decline.” No penalty for declining. No coordination friction.

What if not everyone wants to play?

That’s expected. QuestWorks is voluntary by design. The people who opt in generate authentic behavioral signal precisely because they chose to be there. A mandatory system would give you full participation and zero authentic data. The team health insights describe the group that plays, and voluntary participation makes that data more trustworthy.

What does this cost?

$99/team/month or $999/year (save $189). 10-day free trial, no credit card required. Cancel anytime.

What if my team grows past 15?

Two options. Start a second team — invite a different team lead, spin up a new $99 subscription, run two teams in parallel. (QuestWorks already supports multiple teams per workspace; lots of companies run 2–3 teams from one Slack or Teams install.) Or unlock +5 teammates forever by sharing a testimonial, case study, or referral. It's one-shot per team and we approve manually, but the +5 seats stay on your team permanently after that. No hard cap, no "contact sales" flow.

Can hybrid or in-person teams play?

Absolutely. While perfect for remote workers, in-person teams can cast QuestWorks to a conference room TV and navigate the cinematic adventure together in the same room.

Why a game instead of realistic team simulations?

Realistic group simulations produce performative behavior. People manage impressions instead of solving problems. Fiction creates a magic circle where real dynamics surface naturally.

Is QuestWorks based on real science?

QuestWorks isn’t just based on the science. It’s the next step. Simulation-based team training has over 40 years of evidence behind it, from aviation to medicine. The mechanism is proven: pressurize teams, observe behavior, debrief, improve. What those programs never solved is compliance. Nobody wants to be in a simulator. QuestWorks applies the same proven mechanism through gameplay people actually want to show up for, capturing real team interaction data every session, across months. No clipboard. No compliance problem. No insight decay.

Do we need to know anything about gaming?

Not at all. The system is instantly accessible regardless of gaming experience. Onboarding takes a few minutes. The RPG mechanics are the engine under the hood. Your team just experiences great co-op gameplay.

Do players play with the same groups each time?

Teams quest within their own pod by default. Team leads install QuestWorks and invite their team — quests run within that group, so players build chemistry with the people they actually work with. Cross-team quests are available as a feature, and players can favorite colleagues across teams to get notified when they're online.

What does the team lead actually see?

You can see who's on your team's roster (you're paying per player) and aggregate team-level dynamics: skills developing, engagement patterns, and overall team health trends. Individual gameplay and behavioral data stays private. HeroTypes are public. Everything else is aggregate.

Can we try it before committing?

Yes. Free 10-day all-access trial. No credit card required. Invite another team lead to try QuestWorks with their team and get 10 extra days on your trial — the more teams you bring in, the longer your trial runs.

How long does it take to get started?

Minutes. Add the QuestWorks app to your Slack or Teams workspace, then team members onboard at their own pace. Individual onboarding takes about two minutes.

What happens after the trial ends?

Billing begins at $99/team/month or $999/year (save $189), up to 15 teammates. Cancel anytime. Hit the limit? Start a second team — or share a testimonial, case study, or referral to unlock +5 teammates forever.

What if someone has to leave a session early?

The AI Quest Guide adapts seamlessly and other players continue the quest. No penalty for leaving early.

Do you support international teams?

Yes. Full support across time zones. Sessions are currently English-only, with multilingual support coming.

Can we cancel anytime?

Individual players can leave at any time. Team leads can cancel their team's subscription anytime — reach out and we handle it immediately.

Tips for Pitching QuestWorks
How do I pitch this to my employees?

Honestly? You don’t. You don’t pitch Lattice or ClickUp or CultureAmp to your employees—you just roll them out. QuestWorks is an ops tool for team dynamics and performance. The difference is your team is actually lucky this time, because the tool itself is genuinely enjoyable.

Don’t make it a Thing. Install it, let a few early adopters discover it, and let word of mouth carry. Mandatory participation kills the magic—QuestWorks only works when people choose to show up. Your existing culture determines your opt-in rate. If people trust leadership, adoption is easy. If they don’t, that’s valuable information too.

Copy-paste for your team announcement:
”We’re trying out QuestWorks—it’s a 25-minute team experience that runs once a week. It’s voluntary, nothing is tied to performance reviews, and your gameplay is private. If you’re curious, type /onboard in Slack or Teams to check it out. No pressure.”

How do I pitch this to team leads?

Lead with the fact that it runs itself. 25 minutes a week, auto-scheduled around your team’s calendars, zero coordination on their end. They set a few goals or flag problem areas, and get a weekly update on how those dynamics are progressing. No surveys to send, no offsites to plan, no 1:1 agenda items to add. It’s the first tool that makes team dynamics visible and improves them on autopilot.

Copy-paste for your message to a team lead:
"I want to try QuestWorks with your team. It's a 25-min weekly session that auto-schedules around everyone's calendars. You set a few team goals, and it gives you a weekly Team Intelligence report on how dynamics are developing. Nothing for you to coordinate — it runs itself. Voluntary for the team, nothing tied to reviews. If you try it with your team, we both get 10 extra days on our trial. Want me to send you the install link?"

How do I pitch this to HR / People Ops?

HR cares about three things: does it work, can we prove it, and will it create problems. QuestWorks solves all three.

It generates continuous behavioral data showing team health trends over time—not self-reported pulse surveys, but observed interaction patterns from real collaboration. It’s voluntary, privacy-first, and contractually prohibited from affecting performance reviews. It gives People Ops something they’ve never had: a longitudinal dataset on how culture is actually developing.

It also eliminates the event planning problem entirely. No vendors to book, no calendars to wrangle, no per-event invoices. One tool, always running, measurable from week one.

Copy-paste for your email to People Ops:
"I want to flag QuestWorks for the team. It's a team dynamics platform that runs 25-minute sessions weekly, auto-scheduled around calendars. Team leads install it for their own pods — no company-wide rollout required. It's voluntary and privacy-first: individual gameplay stays private, leaders only see aggregate team trends, and it's contractually prohibited from feeding performance reviews. It replaces the need for one-off team events and gives us continuous culture data instead of annual survey snapshots. Free 10-day trial, then $99/team/month (or $999/year — save $189). Happy to loop you in on a quick look."

How do I pitch this to the C-suite?

Executives think in costs, not culture. So start there. Team dysfunction is the most expensive invisible line item—turnover, slow shipping, silos, conflict. QuestWorks is the first tool that makes team dynamics measurable and improvable over time. $99/team/month vs. the cost of replacing one engineer. It’s not a game line item—it’s a team performance line item that happens to have a 90%+ voluntary opt-in rate because people actually want to use it.

Copy-paste for your exec summary:
"QuestWorks is a team dynamics platform — $99/team/month (or $999/year — save $189). 25 minutes a week. Team leads install it for their own pods and get weekly Team Intelligence reports. It auto-schedules around calendars, runs without manager involvement, and produces weekly reports on team health trends. Voluntary participation, privacy-first, contractually separated from performance reviews. Free 10-day trial with referral extensions. The ROI case: one retained employee pays for years of the platform."

Can QuestWorks be used for leadership development?

Yes—and it’s more effective than most programs designed for it. Traditional leadership development is workshops and theory. QuestWorks surfaces leadership behaviors organically in every session: decision-making under pressure, delegation, conflict resolution, rallying a group around a shared goal. The AI tracks these patterns over time, so leaders don’t just read about situational leadership—they practice it live and get personalized coaching from HeroGPT afterward.

It’s reps, not lectures. And because it’s embedded in the weekly rhythm, development happens continuously instead of in a two-day offsite that everyone forgets by Friday.
